Skills Growth Academy is an Education Training Provider part of Shaw Trust and Ixion Holdings, who are the largest charities in the UK provide and support skills development programme to the school leaver, unemployed, job seekers, a career changer or someone who looking to up-skill in the current role.

Role Overview:

This role is support Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing qualifications through the Government Funded Advanced Learner Loan contract to ensure learners achieve their maximum potential throughout the programme. To provide a varied programme of delivery in line with the required qualification specifications and offer an integrated programme of teaching, training, support mentoring and development of learners. Quality teaching must be adhered to in line with Awarding body standards and the Skills Growth Academy Scheme of Works to ensure timely achievement of learner goals and qualifications as per Company and Regulating Bodies KPIs.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Engagement of learners and delivery of high-quality service – meeting KPIs set for enrolments and attendance confirmation through to the completion of qualifications.

  • Deliver qualifications offered where occupationally competent in accordance with the Quality Assurance process

  • Effectively maintain a the caseload of learners (at agreed and specified level)

  • Highlight and where appropriate deal with learner issues and provide focused learner support, and identifying and providing additional learning support where required.

  • Develop and use a range of techniques and resources tailored to learner’s individual needs – supporting them throughout their learner journey towards successful achievement and completion of qualifications.

  • Maintain learner information, ensuring quality and integrity of data which is accurately recorded and submitted efficiently to meet contractual requirements

  • Work with the direct line manager to maintain and improve quality of delivery across all programmes – including success rates, observations of learning, performance management.

  • Take an active part in Team and Standardisation meetings

  • Take an active role in preparation toward Ofsted inspections as well as taking part in inspections as requested – This includes but is not limited to striving to achieve and maintain standards – including maintaining own CPD and maintaining occupational competence in areas of expertise.

  • To be accountable for sourcing each month an agreed number of new learner applications as agreed. These will be monitored by the line manager as part of the KPI performance measures of this role.

  • Identify new opportunities, referring learners as required to further progression, maximising direct delivery opportunities and maintaining caseloads.

Core Competencies

You are required to demonstrate a number of core competencies

  • Relationship management – develop and maintain productive relationships with your Team, Management, Clients, Partners, and all key stakeholders.


  • Minimum of Level 3 hairdressing qualifications or higher

  • Formal Teaching Qualification (PGCE, PTLL ’s, CTLLs etc)

  • D32/33/A1 or equivalent training and assessment related qualification

  • L2 or equivalent in Functional Skills Maths, English & ICT

  • Sector knowledge and experience on different hair cutting technique

  • Strong awareness and a proactive approach to Health & Safety issues

  • Able to monitor and maintain records

  • Needs to demonstrate individual profile through Instagram or Facebook page.

  • Competent in the use of IT including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to the intermediate user level

  • Experience/Knowledge of Government Funding streams i.e. Advanced Learner Loan delivery

All Roles will require a basic DBS Disclosure check due to the nature of the work to be undertaken.


Part-time hours: 24-37.5 per week (2 days at academy, 1 WFH)
